(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Glenview community is mourning two teens who were shot and killed over the weekend, and a GoFundMe to help the family pay medical, funeral and burial expenses has now raised over $20,000.
The two teens were brothers. Jose Guzman, 16, was the younger of the two. He died Saturday night while shielding his 3-year-old nephew from gun fire. Jose’s older brother, 19-year-old Carlos Guzman, died at a local hospital.
Family members wrote on their GoFundMe that the shooting took place outside of the Guzman’s unincorporated Glenview home.
They also shared that Carlos had a sense of humor, was understanding and caring to his family and friends. He graduated from Glenbrook South High School in 2022, worked at UPS and loved playing soccer.
Jose, who was about to begin his junior year at Glenbrook South, was a talented artist. He, too, loved playing soccer.
The family said the pain of losing both sons and two siblings is “insurmountable.”
“Please pray for the Guzman family and friends as they drive for the loss of their beloved Carlos and Jose,” family members wrote.
