LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The weather has people enjoying the outdoors Thursday, and that includes golfers.

WBBM stopped by the Briar Leaf Golf Club, just off the Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County. There were huge piles of snow surrounding the parking lot.

The snow was gone from the course and it was mostly dry.

Jay Williams, the PGA Golf Pro at the course, was busy behind the counter in the pro shop.

“Its unexpected and it doesn’t happen very often. It seems like every six or seven years we’ll catch three or four days where people can get out," he said.

Williams also said people were just happy to be there. Nico was among those on the course.

“I’m just being, missing golf all winter, so, yeah, it’s beautiful, especially when you don’t golf for three or four months, you just want to get out," he said.

Another golfer, Drew, said, "why not? It's a little breezy but it's nice."

The wind started to really pick up around noon. That might keep golfers away from the courses in season, but not today.

With the temperature flirting with 60, many people wanted to get out. Briar Leaf decided to open for three days, including tomorrow.

Then it's back to reality.
