'Be honest': Family of man fatally shot by Carol Stream Police calling for greater transparency

CAROL STREAM (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The family of a man shot and killed by Carol Stream police last month took their demands to the village board’s meeting Monday night.

Relatives of Isaac Goodlow III kept up their push for the village to release more body camera videos of the shooting that took his life on Feb. 3.

His sister Kennetha Barnes directly spoke to Police Chief Donald Cummings.

“You need to be honest. Your boys messed up, you’re embarrassed, you’re ashamed,” Barnes said.

The chief released a video statement Friday as well as some footage after a 911 call claiming Goodlow physically abused his girlfriend. A police shield obscures some of the camera and two gunshots can be heard immediately after officers enter his bedroom in the Villagebrook Apartments.

Relatives want the officers’ names released.

The department said it will share more video after an independent investigation and local prosecutors take a look.
