The US Department of Homeland Security and President Donald Trump are claiming Operation Midway Blitz a success, as the operation’s leader on the ground is reportedly leaving Chicago.
Governor JB Pritzker took a swipe at US Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino during an appearance in Little Village on Monday, calling him a snowflake and “the people of Chicago have deserved better than having CBP and Greg Bovino in this city”.
The democrat says he believes Bovino is headed to Charlotte or New Orleans for more immigration enforcement.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin tweeted that the agency is not leaving Chicago.
Meanwhile the Sun-Times reports law enforcement sources say a key command post in Chicago is shutting down and while Bovino is leaving, 1,000 federal agents could return in March.
