CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Governor JB Pritzker says he’ll work with President-elect Trump’s border czar, to a point.

The governor responded to remarks made by Tom Homan in Chicago earlier this week.

He said the city would be “ground zero for the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen.”

“I’m open to dialogue with him,” Pritzker said. “He does not have the authority to do the things that he’s talked about. Being a border czar is not an official position in the government.”

Pritzker said he will protect asylum seekers. He added that violent criminals should not be in the United States.

“They should be deported,” he said.
