HIGHLAND PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One of the victims in the Highland Park shooting was a great grandfather visiting from Mexico.
Nicolas Toledo, 78, was sitting in his wheelchair along the parade route, between his son and a nephew, when the bullets started flying and blood began splattering on the family.
"I haven't gotten much updates on my grandma but I think she's ok, but it's very traumatizing for her because she was right next to my grandpa as well," Toledo's granddaughter told CBS-2.
Other family members suffered injuries, but they were not life threatening, and they'll be ok
Nicolas was visiting from Mexico and had been here for about a month. He was said to love fishing and taking walks.
The family created a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses.
