(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Midwest grocery giant Hy-Vee has announced that it will now allow customers to pay for their groceries with PayPal and Venmo.
Hy-Vee President Jody Gosch said the new payment options would be available to customers who use the grocer’s Aisles Online platform for pickup and delivery orders.
“Shopping online for groceries, through services such as Hy-Vee’s Aisles Online platform, has dramatically increased over the last five years,” said Kurt Campisano, with PayPal.
Officials said the move will help Hy-Vee “streamline its payment processes” while offering a secure payment method for customers.
The move makes Hy-Vee the latest business to announce changes to its payment methods. Aldi, Whole Foods and Target have all announced that personal checks will no longer be accepted at their stores.
Hy-Vee has grocery stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
