CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A bizarre incident involving a hammer occurred at a grocery story on the Near North Side Friday night.
A man working as a security guard at the Jewel-Osco at Clark and Division was attacked by a man with a hammer, according to police.
The security guard was hit in the head. The man with the hammer was reported to have been caught shoplifting.
Where the hammer came from is unclear. The guard was taken to Northwestern where he was reported to have only a minor injury.
The man who attacked him was arrested and charges were pending.
