(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The League of Women Voters of Illinois has created a new task force to help the public to identify misinformation during election season.
The League of Women Voters of Illinois has formed the "Misinformation and Disinformation Task Force" to help people to learn how to spot disinformation, even if it's in a tough conversation with a family member says Anne Sullivan with the league.
Sullivan said the Misinformation and Disinformation task force will help all voters, including young people, who she hopes will take advantage of the league's voter guides and get to the polls.
"It's concerning to me that younger people don't always know how to participate in the process of feel overwhelmed by the process."
She added that the power of women is at the ballot box, especially with so many important issues, like reproductive rights, being top issues this election season.
"We all need out turn out and make sure are rights are protected and make sure that we have an informed vote and that we cast our vote according to our voice."
Sullivan said 43 League chapters across Illinois are putting together a series of education programs to help voters to verify correct information before heading to the polls.
