(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An attempted robbery of an armored car outside a Wendy's restaurant left a security guard injured Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.
An armored truck guard exited the restaurant at 8740 S. Lafayette while conducting business when a vehicle pulled up. Three suspects got out of that vehicle and opened fire on the guard, striking him once. The FBI called it an aggravated robbery attempt.
The guard, who reportedly was wearing a bulletproof vest, was taken to the hospital and was expected to make a full recovery. Further details were not available.
