Another happy ending for one of the more than 1,500 beagles rescued from a Wisconsin research and breeding facility.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue is leading the effort to rehome hundreds of dogs rescued from Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, WI.
In a post to social media this week, the Florida-based organization announced the death of Omelette, one of the recently adopted beagles.
After escaping through a fence Sunday, remains were found in a canal nearby.
The rescue said Omelette had likely been attacked by an alligator.
However, Big Dog Ranch Rescue posted an update a day later, saying Omelette was alive and back in their care after he was spotted running through traffic.
"He has now got his [GPS] collar on, we are all beyond ecstatic that Omelette is back here with us, and that he's happy to be back here too," said Lauree Simmons, Founder, President and CEO of Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
Omelette will be heading to a foster home while the best next steps for his future are determined.
"We are focusing on what matters most: Omelette is alive, safe, and surrounded by people who care," concludes the update.
