CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Sights and sounds more suited to the fall return Friday to Illinois.
"Let us play. Let us play"
Last fall, high school student athletes demanded - some for their own sanity - they be allowed to do what they love to do.
Now, the Illinois high school football season is here - nearly seven months behind the normal schedule, with an abbreviated season and a lot of COVID-19 precautions in place.
The IHSA football season will only last six weeks, and it doesn’t include a postseason.
It will also look a lot different in the stands with a 20 percent capacity limit. Those in attendance will have to social distance from those who are not living in the same household.
Masks will be required for both players and spectators; and footballs will be sanitized regularly.
But it is another sign we are easing back into something resembling life as we used to know it.
