CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Six people were injured Friday night in a crash involving three cars on the Near West Side, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

As far as locations go, this one couldn't have been better. The crash occurred at Ashland Avenue and Flournoy Street in Chicago's Medical District.

Chicago police said the driver of a Dodge Charger was speeding while traveling north on Ashland Avenue about 8 p.m., when he swerved around another car and into the southbound lanes.

The Charger hit another car, which then hit an SUV.

First responders with CFD had to extricate some of those involved. They were taken to four nearby hospitals: Rush, UIC, Stroger and Mount Sinai.

Two were transported in serious-to-critical condition, and the four others were transported in fair-to-serious condition.

Two others refused medical treatment.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
