Alleged Highland Park massacre shooter anticipated to change plea

LAKE COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A change of plea is expected by the suspect in the mass shooting at the Highland Park Fourth of July parade two years ago.

Robert Crimo III is due in court next Wednesday in Waukegan, where, according to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, “It is expected that a change of plea will be presented to Judge Victoria Rossetti at the request of the state and the defense.”

Crimo pleaded not guilty in August of 2022.

He’s accused of killing seven people and wounding 48 others, firing a rifle from a storefront rooftop along the parade route.

He faces 117 counts in all,  21 counts of first-degree murder, three for each person who died.

Crimo was also charged with 48 counts of attempted murder and 48 counts of aggravated battery.
