(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The holiday activities intensify as we move closer to December. WBBM Newsradio’s Rachel Pierson has the latest roundup of events across the Chicago region.

--Kick off the holiday season Greektown-style. Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood will be decorated with festive blue and white lights and the traditional Greek Holiday Karavákia Display.

--The CTA's Holiday Train hits the streets of Chicago's neighborhoods this weekend with thousands of twinkling lights wrapped in holiday scenery. Catch Santa and his reindeer along the Green Line Saturday.

--You’ll find even more holiday magic as Sparkle Light Festival makes its debut at Rosemont's Impact Field. Enjoy an immersive display featuring millions of holiday lights plus plenty of winter activities including train rides, tubing and themed villages.

--Looking to ditch the cold? Navy Pier brings all of the winter fun indoors during Light Up the Lake. Take a spin on the Alpine ice rink, send a letter to Santa and ride the iconic Centennial Wheel.

--Forget Black Friday, and celebrate Plaid Friday. The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce invites you to throw on some plaid for a day of shopping that’s a bit more comfy and cozy than the big box store frenzy.

--Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light return to the Museum of Science and Industry, highlighting the customs of more than 50 countries and cultures. The “Art of the Brick” Lego exhibit is also getting into the holiday spirit with the addition of new holiday-themed pieces.
