(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Park Ridge police say they've solved the shooting death of a man that occurred earlier this year.

Ian Bacuac of Oak Brook shot Michael Aldover of Skokie on Feb. 8 in the driveway of a residential building in the 200 block of Grace Avenue, Police Chief Frank Kaminski said Friday.

Kaminski said the shooting was the result of a long-standing dispute between the men.

“We think that evening was the culmination of a series of disagreements that they may have had in the past,” he said.

He credits residents with providing photos and videos from home security cameras and video doorbells. The images helped solve the case, Kaminski said.

“That helped us put together the pieces of the case,” he said.

Such devices have become so valuable to police he said he would like to see programs to encourage more people to install them.

Bacuac, who is charged with first-degree murder, was expected to appear in court Saturday.
