(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Just because kids have to go back to school, doesn’t mean parents have to go back to the school of hard knocks.
Parents are under pressure trying to squeeze in vacations, jobs, and shopping to prepare their kids for the coming school year. Scammers know this and are prepped and ready to go as that means opportunities to rip them off.
For the con artist, the dollar signs are there. Shoppers will spend an average of $890 per family, according to the National Retail Federation. Spending for college-age students is pegged at more than $1,000 dollars.
Don’t learn the hard way.
Research big ticket items and companies before buying laptops, tablets, or other tech accessories.
