SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- State health officials on Sunday reported that 2,727 more Illinois residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and nine additional deaths.
Of the deceased, a man and a woman in their 90s from Cook County; a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 90s from DuPage County; a woman in her 90s from Fayette County; a woman in her 60s from McLean County; a woman in her 80s from Tazewell County; a man in his 70s from Warren County; and a woman in her 50s from Will County, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The IDPH currently is reporting a total of 319,150 cases, including 8,984 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Oct. 4 – Oct. 10 is 4.2%. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 64,047 specimens for a total of 6,307,682.
As of last night, 1,776 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 388 patients were in the ICU and 159 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
On Thursday, Illinois reported 3,059 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the highest daily tally in five months.
