(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and his wife made a significant amount of money last year but not as much as they've made in years past.

The governor and his wife made more than $3.2 million in 2023, according to tax returns released by the Pritzker campaign  Friday.

The income is nearly $1 million more than in 2022 but well below the amount they earned in other years.

The billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune reported an income of $18.5 million in 2021. The tax bill for 2023 was $1.3 million to the Feds and just over $154,000 to the State, according to the Chicago Tribune.

When first elected in 2018, Pritzker, to avoid any conflict of interest, gave control of his personal investments to an independent trustee. He also promised to divest himself of financial interest in any companies that have contracts with the State.
