(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker observed the 51st anniversary of Roe v Wade by meeting with advocates and service providers, while an opponent of abortion celebrated the legal case that rolled back protections.
Pritzker called it a bittersweet anniversary but noted Illinois has become a haven for women seeking abortions. He predicted the issue will loom large in the 2024 presidential election.
Meantime, Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League said he celebrates U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs decision in 2022, which overturned Roe.
He said the number of abortions performed in Illinois has risen by nearly 10 percent following Roe’s demise because the state has set itself up as an abortion destination.
Scheidler said he would like to see some bipartisan limits on abortion.
