Reminder: Illinois minimum wage to increase next year

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The new year means a new minimum wage in Illinois.

Starting Jan. 1, the state’s minimum wage rises to $15 an hour, while the youth minimum wage in Illinois gets a bump up to $13 each hour. Tipped employees will see their pay move up to $9 every hour.

Officials expect pay raises to impact close to 1.5 million Illinois residents.

Come July of 2025, the minimum wage for non-tipped workers in Chicago will change from its current rate of $16.20.
