(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The state of Illinois now has an online tool to show how the state is spending money on the influx of migrants from the U.S. southern border.
Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza said the portal on her office's web site allows people to keep track of how much money the state is spending as well as where those funds are going.
"These are really important data points for people to be able to track," Mendoza said.
Mendoza says the state has been spending money that should have been provided by the federal government.
The portal could help the state document that spending and possibly recover federal funds to help cover some of those costs.
