CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Today is Primary Election day in Illinois, and voters will decide the preliminary rounds in several key races.
Incumbent Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is running for a second term in office. But he’s unopposed in today’s Democratic Primary.
On the Republican side, it’s a real race. Steve Kim, who ran for AG before, is among the candidates, but so is downstate attorney Thomas DeVore who filed lawsuits against Governor Pritzker’s COVID-19 Mitigations. Author David Shestokas, who’s argued against COVID mandates and sought to overturn the 2020 Presidential election, is another candidate .
A recent Ogden and Fry poll suggested this race is a tossup with Kim and Shestokas in a statistical tie. Both have made issues of crime and gun violence central to their campaigns.
