(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A program to attract builders of electric vehicles and parts for them to Illinois has its first success story nearly 10 months after the program was created.
TCCI Manufacturing has agreed to convert a former factory in Decatur into a plant to build cooling devices for electric vehicles.
Governor Pritzker said tax incentives provided by the state's Reimagining Electric Vehicles or REV program convinced the company to build the facility in Illinois.
Pritzker said the program also offers partnerships with local colleges and universities to train workers for electric vehicle manufacturing jobs.
"We are matching our workforce training with the needs of our business community so that we can maintain our reputation as a hub of talent and high quality jobs of the future."
The governor said the REV program has convinced several other companies to consider either opening or expanding EV related manufacturing in Illinois.
