(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Lake County, Indiana Sheriff’s deputy is facing a felony charge for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Indiana State Police say they were contacted in early July by the Lake County Sheriff regarding alleged criminal activity by a deputy.

Police say in a press release they were looking into an allegation that a deputy had used police resources to stalk and harass an ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child.

Deputy Nicholas Katalinic allegedly made false statements to the Lake County 9-1-1 Center in order to determine the woman’s location and used a law enforcement computer program to get her information.

State police say he made several unwanted phone calls to the woman, making specific references about her location and about the well-being of their child.

He’s charged with felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment.
