INDIANA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Indiana Republican lawmakers are at odds with the Republican governor regarding tax breaks.
The Republicans’ plan would toss out Governor Eric Holcomb’s proposed $225 per taxpayer refund that would be paid for with surplus budget funds for inflation relief.
The surplus already automatically kicked back $125.
Instead, the Republicans are proposing a six-month suspension of a seven percent tax that Indiana residents pay on electricity, natural gas, water, internet and phone service.
They’re also proposing a roughly on-year cap on the state’s gasoline tax. They say taxpayers would come out better with their plans.
It appears that no matter what comes out of the upcoming special session, there will be some sort of tax relief for Indiana residents.
