(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The governor of Indiana has ordered independent lab testing to begin today on chemical waste that's set to be moved to Indiana from the site of that derailment a month ago in Ohio.

Gov. Eric Holcomb said a third-party lab will do the testing for his state -- meaning, not the federal government and not the railroad.

The federal EPA has said some of the hazardous materials from the derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, will be sent to a facility about 40 miles west of Indianapolis.

Holcomb said it was "extremely disappointing" to learn of the EPA’s plan.

He says the third-party lab will test for the dangerous pollutant dioxin.

On Thursday, the EPA ordered Norfolk Southern Railroad to test for that substance.
