
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Legislation that’s aimed at attracting professional sports franchises to Indiana, including the Chicago Bears, has advanced in the legislature.
The legislation would create a sports development commission and a sports development fund.
With the goal of attracting a professional sports franchise to Northwest Indiana.
The sponsor, Rep. Earl Harris, a democrat from East Chicago, has acknowledged that attracting the Bears is a goal.
"This legislation is a game-changer. Bringing professional sports to Northwest Indiana would not only be a huge benefit for sports fans, it would bring money, business, tourism and endless opportunities for our community," Harris said.
