INDIANAPOLIS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The state of Indiana has sued Google today over how its location services are used.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita alleged Google has misled consumers on how location data is accessed, stored, used and monetized by Google.

The lawsuit contended that from at least 2014 on, Google has falsely said that consumers can protect their privacy through their settings, supposedly keeping Google from tracking and using their locations.

The lawsuit went on to say that in reality there’s no effective way for Google users to prevent the company from collecting and profiting from their location information.

Google responded that the lawsuit is based on inaccurate claims and outdated assertions about Google’s settings. The tech giant said it intends to defend itself and quote set the record straight.
