INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Indiana's Attorney General is challenging three federal government vaccine mandates with three separate lawsuits.

Republican Attorney General Todd Rokita is challenging the mandate for large employers, federal contractors and for Medicaid and Medicare facilities.

"This is a a direct attack on states' rights. This is a direct attack on individual liberties and freedom and it's a complete overreach of the federal government," he said.

"This is not a workplace issue. It's been with us. It's been in our homes. It's been with us on our sports' teams. It's been with us in our kids' schools."

Democrats are critical of the lawsuits and what they call the Republicans' "culture war."

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, also a Republican, supports the lawsuits and agrees that the vaccination mandates are government overreach.

He said the "federal government approach is unprecedented and will bring about harmful, unintended consequences".
