BLUE ISLAND (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A large industrial fire destroyed a manufacturing facility overnight in Blue Island.
The fire broke out at about 11:30 p.m. at the Chicago Magnesium Casting Company at 141st and Seeley. It's a foundry, producing aviation parts.
Explosions were heard inside the facility. It was a hazardous materials situation, resulting in an extra alarm fire.
It drew a large response from area fire departments. They fought the fire for hours.
The building was destroyed.
Nobody was injured.
