CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two 15-year-olds were hospitalized over the weekend after one of the teens crashed a stolen vehicle in a tractor in Joliet on Saturday.
One of the teens was driving a stolen Kia, according to the Joliet Police Department, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an unoccupied John Deere construction tractor parked on the side of the street.
Police said the driver and the passenger both were taken to a hospital in Joliet. The passenger was later transferred to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago in critical condition, and the driver was taken into police custody.
Officials said the teenage driver also was cited for not having a valid driver's license and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Traffic Unit.
