CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Naperville man, who was a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security, has been found guilty of corruption and tax charges.

Federal prosecutors described 41-year-old Anthony Sabaini’s relationship with an informant as “corrupt,” and they accused him of feeding the person information about federal investigations in exchange for about $50,000.

Sabaini was accused of stealing money from drug dealers and the Department of Homeland Security.

Prosecutors presented evidence, during the three-week trial, that Sabaini made 162 bank deposits, which added up to more than $250,000 in increments under $10,000 — to skirt reporting rules.

His partner, Fernando Zambrano, a former Palos Heights police officer, went to prison in 2021 for lying to agents who were investigating Sabaini.

His sentencing date has not yet been set.
