KANE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There was some confusion in Kane County on election night as election officials ran into a glitch in their system for reporting results online.
Around 9:30 on Election night, the Kane County Clerk’s Office shutdown its election results website. According to the Daily Herald, when the website came back online, some unofficial vote tallies were lower than they’d been before the shutdown.
The Kane County Clerk’s Office said there was never any problem with the vote counting. The problem came when there was a glitch in transferring the numbers from the closed tabulation system to the online site.
The transfer is done with a USB drive. Clerk Jack Cunningham said the error was fixed as quickly as possible and stresses the reported results are accurate.
