KENOSHA, Wis. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There were mixed reactions from locals in Kenosha after Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges.
In the town where Rittenhouse shot three men in self-defense, according to the jury- killing two of them last year, there was question on how an acquittal on all charges would be received locally.
There was a verbal back and forth between those either happy or displeased with the decision until the courthouse steps and surrounding areas were empty just hours after the verdict was read.

"They're shouting 'guilty as hell', you know, I mean, they still haven't figured it out. It's over. It's an acquittal," said one man referring to the crowd of people who were chanting 'guilty'.
"Well, I'm very happy about it. I think the thousand year-old right of self-defense was vindicated," said another man who was present, referring to the verdict.

But others standing on the Kenosha County Courthouse steps, the verdict meant something entirely different.
"It's an outrage. It's bigger than just Kyle Rittenhouse," said one woman.
Many had speculated and some had even promised that there would be a repeat of the riot activity that followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake-the same activity that brought Rittenhouse to the area in the first place, but that simply did not happen.
