‘Monster trucks’ and ‘a night away’ among Christmas wishes from kids and parents

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — On Michigan Avenue’s Pioneer Court, Chicagolanders enjoyed holiday music, free coffee and cheesecake, but they were all a bonus compared to the main draw: free photos with Santa and the chance to whisper in his ear.

“Monster trucks!” requested some of the kids.

Other wishes included a waterproof speaker, a guitar “that does hard music,” video games, a chemistry set and even a metal detector.

Some of those requests seem fairly practical. It was the adults, though, who were possibly asking for things just outside old Saint Nick’s wheelhouse.

“I want to win the lottery,” one said.

In a not-so-subtle hint to her husband, a grandmother wished for a finished porch, while one particularly bold man said he’d like a “younger wife.”

But not all significant others were stuck on the naughty list this holiday season.

“I’d like a night away with my husband,” a woman said.

He wasn’t fooled.

“Wait, did you say ‘with,’ or ‘without?’” he asked.

On second thought, it was the latter, she said.
