(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A prostitution sting targeting “Johns” in Lake County led to the arrest of a dozen men.
The Sheriff’s Office says the men answered classified ads placed online.
Each was arrested when they arrived at a meeting place and offered money to undercover detectives for sexual acts.
“It is a well-known fact that many (women) are forced into this type of ‘sex work’ through physical force, fraud, and coercion. Many of them are victims of human trafficking,” Sheriff John Idleburg said in a news release.
Those arrested range in age from 19 to 71, officials said. Each is charged with solicitation of a sexual act, which is a class A misdemeanor.
