(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Landscapers testified this week during an Evanston City Council committee meeting about relaxing the city's gas leaf-blower ban.
The companies say electric leaf blowers don't have enough power or last long enough. Plus, landscapers say, they're expensive and so are batteries -- and so are the $250 tickets for not complying.
The city recorded more than 500 leaf blower complaints last November, compared to 50 the previous year.
Some tweaks to the ordinance are being considered, but one council member said environmentalists would be up in arms it the gas blower ban were to be repealed.
