(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago employment attorney says President Biden's vaccine-related mandates are surprising and will surely be met with legal challenges.
"I would be surprised if already this evening there aren't legal challenges being drafted to be put on file to stop this from going into effect," Chicago employment attorney Brian Weinthal told WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller on Thursday.
A big surprise is Biden's attempt to use the Department fo Labor to promulgate regulations requiring private employers to put COVID-19 vaccine mandates in place, he said.
"That is going to be a big topic of discussion and an immediate challenge, I am guessing, from most private sector employers who are going to claim the Department of Labor doesn't have that kind of extensive power."
And Weinthal says it's a problem that the Biden directive would require employers to provide time off for employees to get vaccinated. Who pays for that, he asks: The employer? The government?
