MUNDLEIN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you have an old record player, and want to help some hungry people, the northwest suburbs is the place to be tomorrow.
The Fourth Annual Libertyville Vinyl Record Sale is being held at 1929 McRae Lane in Mundelein.
One of the organizers, Lance Schart, told WBBM they will have four vendors with more than 2,000 vinyl records "most in very good or better condition."
"Vinyl is really hot right now so this a great opportunity to come find some of your favorite titles for probably a slightly-reduced price while benefiting your local food bank."
Schart said hunger wears many faces, in many places.
"The Libertyville Vinyl Record Sale is located in the heart of Lake County, which many people equate with more affluence, in our community, but there is a genuine need.
"Because of the pandemic there are still people who haven't been able to find work, and in addition, inflation has greatly affected many, many families. The cost of food and transportation is going up."
Schart said nothing beats playing good old vinyl.
"The thing I think people most enjoy about vinyl is the tactile experience, being able to hold a physical piece of media, putting it on a turntable, dropping the needle, hearing that little crack of static before the music begins to play, there's just something warm and genuine about it."
