(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago rapper Lil Durk, already facing murder-for-hire charges, has now been linked to a deadly shooting on the city’s Far South Side.
The link was revealed in new court documents and could lead to additional charges against Lil Dirk, born Devante Durk Banks.
Federal prosecutors believe the rapper played a role in the January 2022 murder of Stephon Mack as the 24-year-old left the Youth Peace Center of Roseland.
FBI Officials say at the time of that shooting, Mack was the leader of a gang, that the year prior was tied to the deadly shooting of Banks’ brother in south suburban Harvey.
Two Chicago men have been charged in Mack's murder.
But prosecutors believe text messages, even lyrics in a Lil Durk song released a month after, may prove the rapper paid for the killing to avenge his brother.
Banks has already been charged in a different murder for hire case involving rapper Quando Rondo in West Hollywood.
