OAK LAWN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Loved ones and officers came together on Sunday to say their goodbyes to fallen Chicago Police Officer Enrique Martinez.
It was a windy but otherwise beautiful day as Chicago police officers, other first responders and members of the community gathered at Blake Lamb Funeral Home to remember and honor Martinez, who was killed earlier this month during a traffic stop near 80th Street and Ingleside Avenue.
Among those who came out was Larry Clinton, with the Shriners Medina Motor Corps.
"Our mission is to have fun, raise money to support the hospitals, not necessarily in that order, but we're here to honor the fallen officer," he said.
Dave Gear of the Illinois Patriot Guard was one of the first to arrive.
"We will honor him; we will comfort his family and do whatever is necessary to honor his legacy," Gear said.
Martinez's funeral will take place Monday.
