Hundreds of purses packed with compassion are headed to Chicago-area domestic violence shelters.
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon and her team partnered with the #LovePurse organization to spread hope across the county.
For the fourth year, the Clerk’s Office collected large purses filled with personal care items like soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, socks, and more, along with a handwritten note of inspiration.
"We want to put smiles on the faces of women who go though so much," says Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon. "We wanted to let them know that we value them, but most importantly, we're here to help them."
This year's #LovePurse donations will be sent to six community-based agencies that provide housing and other social services to women impacted by domestic violence.
#LovePurse says it has collected and gifted over 18,000 purses for women in need globally since 2021.
