CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Computers and phones crashed at Lurie Children’s Hospital Wednesday, causing confusion, frustration and canceled appointments and surgeries. It continues this morning.
It's unclear whether the hospital’s systems were impacted by hackers.
What is clear is that the phones and computers went down.
Callers heard a recorded message.
Ellen Brown’s infant son is a patient. She told CBS-2 he was supposed to have surgery. She couldn’t reach anyone, nobody reached out to her.
“I would have thought that someone would have reached out some sort of an urgent line…Somebody has some sort of cell phone that works inside the building,” Brown said.
Appointments and procedures were canceled.
Records and prescription information could not be accessed.
“We are actively working to resolve this issue,” Lurie’s posted on Facebook.
