An 18-year-old accused of shooting his roommate inside a dormitory at Western Illinois University surrendered at a Chicago police station Wednesday afternoon, the school said.
Kavion Poplous, a freshman from Chicago, arrived at the station about 1:35 p.m. and was taken into custody by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Poplous is accused in a Tuesday night shooting in Macomb after a “roommate dispute,” university officials said.
He’s been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a university statement.
The roommate reportedly is recovering.
