(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- College visits are a rite of passage for parents of high school students, but they can also be a good excuse for a family vacation.
Just make sure there's something for everyone.
City Richards of She Buys Travel in Chicago told the WBBM Noon Business Hour that families should try to hit multiple colleges in a single trip.
"Small, maybe a small private school; maybe a small liberal arts school; a medium school, and then a big state school," Richards suggested.
That way, she said, a prospective student can experience all flavors of campus life.
"I think that helps them narrow down their choices of what kind of school they want to look at," Richards said.
She added there's nothing wrong with bringing siblings along for a college visit, as long as parents plan another fun activity after the campus tour.
