(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Prosecutors have revealed more information about the strangulation murder of a 15-year-old girl in the South Shore neighborhood.
They say 24-year-old Joshua Williams strangled Amarise Parker at his home in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue on Dec. 12.
Investigators say the teen's windpipe had been crushed and a necklace was lodged in her throat.
Williams and Parker were dating. Investigators say Parker went to a neighbor's home and called her mother, who had reported the teen missing, to pick her up.
Prosecutors say Parker told her mother Williams would not let her leave and that she escaped when he thought she was in the bathroom.
Parker then returned to Williams' home, where a neighbor heard Williams and Parker arguing, authorities say.
Prosecutors say Williams later called his cousin and a friend and told them Parker was foaming at the mouth. Police say the cousin called 9-1-1.
Investigators say a check of Williams' phone found online searches of topics that included murder and how to explain death by asphyxiation.
Police say Williams also faced an arrest warrant from Colorado for strangulation.
A judge ordered Williams to be held behind bars. His next court date is Jan. 10.
