
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man is under arrest and charged in Joliet after allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl.
Police said that Thursday morning they got a call from an underage girl that a neighbor had broken into her home and tried to assault her.
Police said they spotted the suspect, 23-year old Isaias Vargas, coming from the victim’s house. He fled from officers.
He lost them in a wooded area but was eventually caught. When Joliet police caught up with Vargas, he was hiding in the second level of a chicken coop near his home on Richards Street near Doris Avenue.
Police said Vargas confessed to trying to sexually assault the girl and admitted that he sexually assaulted her when she was younger.
Vargas has been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of home invasion, unlawful restraint, two counts of battery and obstructing a police officer.
