Man attacked, robbed in Loop near State/Lake station

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police are trying to identify two men, who could be described as predators, who attacked a 54-year-old man early Tuesday morning near the State and Lake 'L' stop in the Loop.

The two appeared to have it planned out.

One approached the 54-year-old man on the street at State and Lake and cold-cocked him - punched him in the face - causing him to fall to the pavement; while the second man came from behind and hit the victim in the back of the head with an unknown object.

Both men then took the victim’s backpack and phone and ran off.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, suffered a cut on the back of his head and bruising on his face.

It’s unclear of the crime was caught on surveillance video.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning. Area Three detectives were investigating.
