(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Police say the fatal stabbing of a woman in a South Shore apartment appears to be domestic-related, and authorities reportedly discovered the crime scene after a despondent man called 9-1-1 and said he was having a bad day.
The unidentified victim was found with multiple stab wounds in the kitchen of a third-floor apartment in the 2400 block of East 74th Place around 9 p.m. Monday, Chicago police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man was taken into custody, they said.
Citing a police report, the Chicago Sun-Times reports the man, 37, answered the door with blood on his hands. He had called emergency dispatchers, "speaking quietly and despondently," and said he was having a bad day, the paper reported.
Two small children in the apartment were taken to Comer Children's Hospital to be evaluated, the Sun-Times reported.
The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. No charges had been announced.
